Designer earrings range in size from small 3mm studs, to dramatic shoulder-duster lengths of 130mm.

These are a delicate, very wearable length - about 70mm long from the top of the earwire. Gold fill is a manufacturing process in which gold is permanently bonded under enormous pressure to the surface of a matching color metal alloy. This milling process results in a gold surface about 100 times thicker than conventional gold plating. The material produced is about 5% gold, so is much less expensive than solid gold. In appearance jewelry produced with 14kt gold fill is identical to jewelry produced with 14kt solid gold. The only way to tell them apart visually - even for a jeweler - is by the stamping indicating it is gold fill not solid gold. Gold fill is extremely unlikely to "wear off" and is considered fine quality, unlike base metal costume jewelry. 14kt rose gold is an alloy that uses more copper than standard 14kt yellow gold alloy, resulting in a appealingly "rosy" warmer pinkish tone.
